Rotary Stawell, stawelltalk 14 to 21 January 2014
Hello all, and welcome back to every one, members, friends and readers, well the team has arrived in Vietnam, and from reports is having a good time, they have visited various places, including Loreto Foundation that assists in the schooling and assistance to underprivileged children in Vietnam.
For those interested we have kept the diary sent back by PP Pauline and the information on the Tour is all contained therein. But a very good group as we have been informed, and outside of some concerns over knees ankles the odd rash etc. the trip is going very well, with everyone getting along very well, we expect our two ladies, to arrive home , just a touch heavier than when they left, if not personally then in the luggage they are coming home with. Speaking of injuries Pres Kim tripped and stumbled down onto a tiled floor in the hotel that they were staying at. Sadly Kim came down on her bad knee, thus taking all the weight , and causing a great deal of pain and discomfort.
A Doctor was called, and with some relief diagnosed that no bones were broken/fractured, and at last information although tender no further damage had been done, and that is a relief .
Talking about sore body parts PP Val has taken up a new job, as a furniture removalist, and didn’t lift or move the Furniture with her legs but with her back, oop’s, now the poor girl is having difficulty in standing for any period of time , or sitting for that matter. And so what was just a little stiffness has developed into something that is causing a great deal of discomfort.
The medical report continues with PP Wilton, still not right after the accident he was involved in prior to Christmas, Ed understands that it is also a Knee Problem as a result of the Crash, that is still offering Willy little peace or pain relief.
PP Pauline is being extremely careful of her less than happy back, and may possibly be up for further examination when she gets home, take care Paulie, although the hot stone massage may have done some good.
So like Kim, Val and Willy we hope that all members of the knee and Back brigade regain full movement, in the very shortest time possible.
Again our thanks to the supporters of the tour and to Rtn Wendy for all her work, and we hope things have improved for her since our last report.
Our next meeting is in our usual venue on Tuesday 21 January 14 and will be largely dealing with details and arrangements for the various projects and actions we are to undertake in the 6 months to 30 June. 14.
So any thoughts on activities set in place and anything new you may have in line this is the meeting to bring them forward. We are not sure if Pres Kim or PP Pauline will be up for the next meeting, but we don’t know how they will come through the trip home.
The temperature, has been extreme , and you don’t need the Ed to tell you that, so we hope everyone has been keeping cool, hydrated, and inactive, these things combined will make life a little easier along with an air conditioner. Remember you can run about Run??, under a hand held hose in your garden, if all else fails, that’s not as silly as it sounds, why should the kids have all the fun?.. but don’t forget the message of SLIP SLOP SLAP. When going outdoors for any length of time
Our first evening back was HOT, but thanks to some good thoughts and actions it turned out to be a very good evening in the cool of Noelene and Norman’s air conditioned dinning room, The idea of a BBQ was ditched, and s salad was the order of the day, then to have the meal in side and in the coolness of the house was the best idea since Sliced Bread. Added to this there was no cooking required of a hot stove or in an oven, and that meant that the ladies were not preparing meals and working, half the night. So there were plusses allround, with lots of chat as could be expected, it was an opportunity, albeit 2 weeks early to wish John and Su Qin, well on their upcoming trip to China, John was saying that Su Qin has had the bags packed for more than a weeks, not that she is excited or anything, much..
Another topic of chat was the possibility of Bush Fire and preparedness, most particularly as we could see out of the Front windows, the dark clouds and Lightening coming in from the direction of Maryborough. Reminders of bush fire events in the past were spoken of by various members and guests, and what actions had been put in place to protect homes and property generally.
This item, may be of some interest, unless you plan to live for another 1,000 years of course!

Well there we are not so much to report but we are back, so enjoy all that vitamin ‘D’
Remember Folks, that A strong and positive mental attitude, will create more miracles than any wonder drug.
Have a great week in Rotary. Ed.
