Good morning all hope we find you well.  This is the beginning of a very busy time for the Club,

With the “Thank you meeting from the youngsters that went on tour to Vietnam on Friday night at the entertainment centre.   Set up for the District Assembly on Saturday,  and  attending the district Assembly on Sunday, the following Tuesday our penultimate Board meeting for the year.  Sunday Mothers Day,  Thursday 15 special dinner with the Travelling Willbreys, 80 to 90 in attendance,   and a BBQ  fundraiser for Stawell West primary at their sports day on 29 May.  Plus our normal meetings and MOW.

So that’s not bad for a little Club,  but again it points out the differing things  that the Clubs are doing from day to day.  We gained this knowledge from the Club Presidents during their reports , at the group 7 meeting, that was our last Group meeting for the year  and we had an excellent roll up.

These group meetings started in 2005 and have remained an important part of the Fabric of the group 7 clubs, and have cemented many friendships.

Amongst our 35 odd visitors we were honoured by our DGE Geoff and Meryl James , and our AG  Douglas & Pauline Ball. All presidents were in attendance along with members from all clubs. And on top of this we had guests as well so it was a great turn up.  A Little sad for PP Braven from Beaufort. And PDG Ted from Stawell,  who are both retiring from Rotary at June 30 this year.  Braven is heading North to NSW  and Ted is going west to Dimboola.

We also had a stirring speech from, DGE Geoff on the 3 Major points  or Goals for next year, .he went on to mention the Theme and the interpretation that could be gained from it.

And so an excellent night a lot of chat, and a fair bit of laughter, a lot of networking and just and  some good old fashioned  conversation, so that was the night that was, Secretary Ted won the raffle, for a meal for two at the Goldfields restaurant.  Hhhmmmm!

The Meals on Wheels this week are carried out by Rtn Robin,  on Thursday and Pres Kim on Friday.  And then as mentioned we have the set up for the assembly on one day and attendance the next.

This brings us to the Saturday, those who volunteered to assist , please be at the College at 8.30 AM, we will be finished by 10.00 to 10.15 am if we are all ready to go at that time, and this will allow for Golf, the grape escape etc. for the rest of the day. We can expect District Secretary Elect  PP Derrick Marsden to assist as well.  Thank you PP Derrick.

PP Pauline is preparing for a three week to a month jaunt through Canada, and despite repeated requests she does not need any one to carry her bags, “darn  it” but we hope she has a great time and enjoys some of the great scenery, and comes back to us safely and refreshed.

The change over of some duties is to happen in the next week, with PP John to start on the newsletter  [Cub reporter]  and Pres. Kimberley to look after Facebook and the web site. So give the new folks some time to get used to the newsletter function.

I know that we have not had a “who was it”  article for a while, but who was the member who called at another members home, Proudly brandishing  what appeared to be a CD cover, he was delighted to tell his friend that he now had proof that he had a Brain, it was all on the CD. First one had to ask, what was all on the CD, the Brain?  One has to worry about this approach, is he indicating that he thought he was brainless prior to the scan?  Still we remain to decent to mention names,  but  we think that he may be a relative of Mrs Kelly’s boy Ned !!    OH DEAR..

Please do not forget to get names into PP John Artz  for the evening of the 15 May, he needs the numbers for catering purposes, and has had only a few replies as yet, remembering of course that there is no meeting on the 13 May as we have transferred our meeting to the 15 so we can accommodate the visitors from the  RV Fellowship.

Finally prior to closing, next meeting is the 6 May and is a board, agenda and last minutes will be out tin the next two days, if there are any reports not in as yet, please get them in by Saturday morning 12.00 Noon.

So that about all for the moment, for this week, and we hope all of our readers have a great week in Rotary.

Remember; Seeing much, suffering much and studying much, are the three pillars of learning.

Cheers  and good luck  ED.
