50 Great Reasons to Join Rotary
1. The Opportunity To Serve
‘The chance to do something for somebody else and experience the self-fulfillment that comes in the process is richly rewarding’

SO WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?
Youth

Again we are hosting a couple of Youth Exchange Students, Capucine Robilliard from France and Amanda Bisi from Brazil.
The two girls have been having a number of great adventures and are currently preparing to go on Safari after Easter.

We also currently have a student of our own studying in Brazil at the moment, Taia Hayter. Taia flew out on the 13th January and whilst a little homesick is enjoying her exchange so far.

On the subject of outband Exchange Students, we will be sponsoring Amanda Bertram for Exhange in 2019, and she is hoping to go to Germany.

History

Sadly, we recently saw the first Rotary club of Stawell project demolished by the Northern Grampians Shire Council to make way for a public park.
The Maternal Health Centre in Scotland Place had been built as a project of the Rotary Club in the mid 1950s.
Currently there is no acknowledgement onsite of the work the Club provided 60 years ago, however President Des and Past President Johndid a great job of drafting a letter for the local paper.
I think the Club should consider erecting a plaque in the area so that future generations are aware of the contribution.

Group 7

Recently we had a band of intrepid travellers, (Des and Judi Pickford, Kay McLaughlin, John Launder, Scotney and Angela Hayter, Caucine Robilliard, Amanda Bisi and Amanda Bertram), head over to the Group 7 meeting in Maryborough.
Whilst there, we heard from the incoming District Goveror, Anthony Ohlsen, and his experience at the Rotary Internation Conference in the United States. Some great photos and stories.
After hearing from the Club Presidents, we heard from our very own Exchange Students, who introduced themselvesand took questions from the gathering. Well  done girls!
The food was good, the fellowship was fantastic, I cannot wait for the next one!
