Hello all, hope the bulletin this week finds you well, and that stands for our friends and readers alike. Well it has been a strange week with Rotary on the Monday this week when we ventured off into the wilds of Beaufort for our Group 7, dinner meeting.

There was a good crowd and plenty of talk and giggles. We had a couple of very good people to entertain the assembled group 7 multitude , a bush balladeer and a PDG who was to regale the masses with the latest information on the Foundation and the grants programs. It has to be said that PDG Jenny Coburn, is great value, no matter if it is membership to Foundation, she does an outstanding job, and the presentation was first rate, in that it was made so simple and easy to understand, and that has been one of the drawbacks to Foundation over many years that most members just did not understand the procedures.

The example used was for a project in Fiji, and how $1000 became $18,000 and the combination of Rotary Beaufort and Clubs in 9810 [Possibly Box Hill] for a school project, The presentation went through the grant process, the Fiji end before during etc. and was thoroughly entertaining and educational presentation.
The best bit from a foundation perspective was not just the result of this Grant but the lesson it showed the group 7 members in attendance, of just how easy this is, if done correctly.
While, our friendly local Poet, was also very entertaining, and great value.

And so another great night out, some networking, good company and generally a happy night spent with friends. Our thanks to our hosts Rotary Beaufort, for turning on another wonderful evening for the group.

Editorial. The Chinese festival is the major thrust just at the moment. We have to make a comment on the Festival, irrespective of what some think about the amount of work that is being done by so many, to get the show up and running, this is in fact and old fashioned approach to the work done here in Stawell, where one person does the majority set up and everyone jumps in at the working end of things. Note the Art Show. It is for this action that we should be supporting Rtn Kim now and on the day as she will request in the next week. One Rotarian has done not all but the greater bulk of the work, and on the 13 November, we will need as many as possible on deck to assist and ensure that the job Rtn Kim has done is given every chance of success. There should have a more positive vibe about the festival, certainly no negativity. Most importantly what have we gained for Rotary our Club and for our Town?

President Val and her helpers were at the Stawell Show last week, and did very well, selling tickets to the B’Rat South Rotary Community Car raffle, and we would like to thank the Boss, and Rtn’s Kim, & Vaughan, PP Pauline and Mr David Barnett for carrying out this Fundraising work, for the Club. It is usually a good day at the show, with lots of people about, and to have a chat with, we also know that PP Des is up the main street of a Saturday morning selling tickets as well, and he seems pleased to do this and we suspect that being a people person helps a lot. So thank you all..
